The president appoints judges at the supreme court but they must be confirmed by the senate.
So when you think that many governments have the intention to subdue the people if there is any chance, the president and senate in the US just appoint the judges who are willing to serve this purpose.
In its current form Americas democracy is likely to serve tyranny.
